Hello Everyone
As most of you will know we are planning to sell the Guild Dryad Loom – hopefully at the forthcoming AGM on 21st Jan. (this coming Saturday). The loom has been valued at approximately £150 and offers are invited in this region. There will be a reserve price on the loom (confirmed on the day). The sale will be conducted by sealed bid after the AGM. If anyone would like to bid but might not be able to attend on Saturday, please get in touch with me (Laura). Further info. about the loom can be obtained from Margaret Whewell.
Just to confirm, the valuation of £150 covers the 36inch 4-shaft Folding Dryad Floor Loom, 3 different reeds, sticks, Texsolve heddles and paper roll. The boat shuttles will also be sold on the day, probably separately from the loom. The bobbin winder usually stored with this loom is to kept within the Guild, in the care of a member who will endeavour to take it to as many workdays and weavers group meetings as possible. There will be opportunity to discuss the sale of the loom at the AGM, prior to its disposal. If anyone has comments to make about the proposed sale and is unable to attend, please get in touch with a committee member as soon as possible. The loom will be available to take away from the AGM (prefered) or other arrangements can be made with Margaret. Payment for the loom can be by cash or cheque, or a combination of both.
Memberships are due for renewal after the AGM, also Journal subscriptions for those who have placed orders through the Guild. There are a couple of spare subscription places available for anyone who would like to receive the Journal this way ( at the Guild workays, saving on P+P).
Information about forthcoming workshops will also be available. Finally, a reminder about this years’ Hanni’s Quaiche competition – a teacosy(perhaps) for the Guild (CoG Hall) teapot. Please bring along any handmade teacosy which you would like to enter whether it might fit the Guild teapot or not. All will be admired.
The workday will continue after the AGM business is concluded. Remember to dress warmly, bring a packed lunch and something to do in the afternoon. If anyone would like to bring along any projects they have been working on through the winter/over the festive period then I’m sure everyone would be pleased to see them.
Hopefully see everyone this coming Saturday (21st January)
Regards,
Laura
